Do one thing that scares you every day.

I've heard the 'Do one thing that scares you every day' phrase before, but I was reminded of it again the other day while watching one of Casey Neistat's videos (you should check him out if you don't know who he his, his Youtube videos are insane!). It reminded me that we live in a world where everything has already been done, at least to some extent, so to stand out from everyone else you have to offer something different and unique.

Another phrase that often comes up in books and articles I read, especially about being successful as a freelancer is 'Act who you want to be', which is something I try to do. Pairing this with doing something every day that scares you is bound to make you a better more determined person. Even if it's just a small thing that scares you, if you do it, you've not only overcome a feeling of fear but you've then also achieved something that will add to the type of the person you are.

Obviously there will be days when you have to overcome bigger things, for me this was yesterday, when I had to film the intro for my first vlog, and I say 'had' to because I've been giving myself every excuse under the sun for the last week so I didn't have to do it. It may sound absolutely ridiculous to some people, all I had to do was talk into my camera with no one watching, but I'm pretty sure there is a lot of people who know that feeling too, especially if you have a fear of public speaking like I do.

It was the most awkward thing I'd ever done at first, but after a few attempts I loosened up a little bit and started to smile and laugh and the videos came out much better. Then I was walking around the house smiling to myself and feeling proud because I'd finally tackled probably my biggest task of the month, I sat down,  refused to give up and felt better for it. I now know for the next vlog, it'll still be bad, but not as bad and it can only get better.

Here's a screenshot of my nervous face from it!

I'm also working on another process video for my Youtube channel, I was going to upload it this week but I'm looking at uploading my vlog this week and then the process video a week or two after to break things up a little. So keep an eye out for this one.

I've also finally started finalising a concept for a new shirt for Monster Trunk. I'm planning on building the new website over the next few days so it should be up next week. I still have previous designs left, so they'll be back and this new one will be released in the next few weeks.

I'm pretty excited because I feel like I'm starting to take the brand in a new direction. It's a shame it's been so long since I last released a shirt, but they're all funded from my part time job and one of my principles for the brand is to never release something I wouldn't wear and don't believe in, so I'm happy to wait and make sure I stick to those.

If you want to follow Monster Trunk on the usual social sites, head on over to www.monstertrunkcollectables.bigcartel.com and click on the relevant link at the bottom.

Thanks for reading! Even if you just try it, dive in and tackle that scary task you've been putting off or the new thing you want to try but are too worried about, just face the challenge and you'll only benefit from it!
